Nokia and Linux come together on the N900
Nokia is utilising the Linux-based Maemo 5 operating system on the new N900 smartphone, due for release tomorrow.
The N900 will be the only Nokia using the Linux OS, with all future Nokia smartphones supporting the MeeGo OS – an open-source system developed with Intel.
Nokia’s General Manager of Mobiles, Kai Oistamo described the N900 handset as ““the direction we see for the MeeGo platform on Nokia devices”, and that “the wave after the N900 is the MeeGo wave”.
